Once friendship and love stood at odds

fighting about who is more important in ones life

Love said obviously its me

and friendship simply smiled

Impulsive as love is, it said

Its not by chance that most stories are written on me

and most movies are made on me

that I am the one who makes people want to live..

and that some will even kill and die for me….

Yes..that is very true..said friendship…

that you have killed quite a few

but when you leave somebody so devastated

I’m the one who takes care of the ill-fated

and for every person that you tried to kill

I’m the one who put some life back into him..

I’m the one who shoulders…friendship then said…

when you should have been there…

And yet Im the one who is the most forgotten..

Coz now suddenly you decided to “be there”

You celebrate anniversaries…

Of the promise you decided to make on a day

But I’m the one who keeps my word

Without bothering of Work, Distances or whatever ahead may lay…

2 people can stay in love

only as long as they  get along

but if you really want to stay together

its the friendship that will take you long.

After a lot of contemplation (which it always does!)

love just had to agree

That for it to last a lifetime..

friendship there had to be!

Cheers to friendship! :)

Today I was studying! :) yea really, and that too without the tension of any exam tomorrow. I study best when I’m under no tension of writing an exam.. I really like to understand some concepts without having to reproduce it on paper the next day…

So, as I said…today I was studying.. I was doing some Organizational Behaviour and came upon this Biases in decision making..i.e what all may hinder your decision making process.

While reading I came up with ways to remember these…

So here they are…with explanations :)

#1 Overconfidence bias.. yeh haath nahi hathoda hai.. agar kisi pe pad jaye, toh admi uthta nahi..uth jaata hai.. ;)

//A tendency to overestimate your performance and ability//

#2 Anchoring bias : pehli nazar me aisa jaado kar diya…tera ban baitha hai mera jiyaaa..

// A tendency to fixate on initial information//

#3 Confirmation Bias : Mujhe toh pehle se hi pata tha…

//A tendency to seek out information that reaffirms past choices//

#4 Availability bias : jo dikta hai woh lagta hai ki hai…jo nahi dikhta woh lagta hai ki nahi hai..par kabhi kabhi to dikhta hai woh hota nahi ..aur jo nahi dikhta …wohi hota hai..

// A tendency of people to base their judgements on information that is readily available to them//

#5 Escalation of commitment : Ek baar jo maine commitment de di…fir mein apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta.. ;)

//An increased commitment to a previous decision in spite of negative information//

#6 Randomness error :Beta..yeh lo gaajar ka halwa..mujhe pata tha yeh naukri tumhe hi milegi

// The tendency of individuals to believe that they can predict the outcome of random events//

#7 Winners curse : Kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hai

//A decision making dictum which argues that the winning participants in an auction typically pay too much for the winning item//

#8 Hindsight bias : Bapuji!! main na kehti thi…iss ladki ke lakshan kuch theek nahi..

// A tendency to believe falsely, after an outcome of an event is actually known, that one would have accurately predicted that outcome//

Hope you will never forget them now! I know I wont! :)

HAPPY STUDYING TO YOU ALL!!  :)

“This fridge came home on your 1st birthday…”.. my granny loves to tell this particular story again and again.. “ and see how nicely it has worked for over 22 years now” ….. “Never..never has it given any trouble….may be except that one time when the fuse went off…and then you know ….”

………………and the story continues to how my 1st birthday was celebrated and how the delivery of the fridge was supposed to come one day before but it eventually came on my birthday…and how she got late for it and how my “father stayed up all night one day before making shrikhand for the odd 50-60 guests expected for the next evening”God! such a long story over a fridge!

To think of it, every piece of furniture in my house has a story to tell….

“This mixer on a particular diwali” …..

“This TV was bought home on the day your mama completed his education…”

the bed, cushions…even the curtains….”these curtains were made 2 years ago, when the whole building was renovated..and the old ones got too dirty because of all the dust..”

“this sofa set…is older than you” my granny grins….

Just how are these made????

I remember a few years ago, this thing called “blender” was very famous.. and I remember my mother waiting to buy it..and when she finally did, it was from her increment… and so she remembers, because there are so many things attached to it..That’s how these stories are made, I guess…

Recently a friend of mine got married.. and I know she and her mom were busy setting up her new home.. and that she bought a fridge..a microwave..an AC..crockery that matched with the colour of the cabins..and at that time I thought…oh how beautiful…

Today when I think of this, I wonder will she have a story to tell to her kids???

Will I have a story to tell??

And so I have decided that when I get married ( I know what you are thinking…looong way to go..dont even ask..!! ;) ) ..I want it all …but gradually….on our own.. I think there is a certain pride that is attached to it…the kind I see in my mother’s eyes today…and that is something I want to live with..

so that I too will have, a story to tell…..
