When I am tired of the world
And it frustrates me through and through,
All that keeps me going ,
Are the great things about you!

They say women talk too much
And I won’t say they are wrong! ;)
But for me your voice is melody
And your speech, a song!

What brightens my day up,
Is your million-dollar smile,
To get one look at those pearly whites,
I will undertake a thousand exiles!

When I look into your mysterious eyes
And you look back into mine,
I feel strong and weak
Both at the same time!

However confused I may be
But when I am with you,
I know exactly the man I want to be
And I know what I want to do!

And that is why, the greatest thing about you
Is nothing else but only you!
And that is just one of the reasons, my dear,
Why I, truly, deeply, madly, love you!

I used to rule the skies,

Soaring high above the nation!

With my dreamy eagle eyes

And on the wings of imagination!

Dreamt of being an Air Warrior

And of Touching the sky with Glory!

By Breaking the sound Barrier

And writing my own Story!

But not all dreams come true

And neither did this one.

I fell out of the blue

To Crash and Burn!

But never the one to give up,

I tried again & again to fly.

Until they said, “Time’s Up!”

Dream shattered, I tried not to cry.

Defeated and all Alone,

Tears streaming down my face,

Never wanting to come home,

I still wanted to become a flying ace!

Picking the pieces of my broken dreams,

I stood alone that night in the rain.

Screaming silent screams

And crying out my pain.

I felt it was better to die

But I never thought of suicide.

I don’t know why

But for that I feel pride!

Years have passed by,

I have seen many new dreams

And very hard, I did try,

To make them come true!

Some came true,

Many bit the dust.

But I know I will get through

Because in Life, I trust!

Once friendship and love stood at odds

fighting about who is more important in ones life

Love said obviously its me

and friendship simply smiled

Impulsive as love is, it said

Its not by chance that most stories are written on me

and most movies are made on me

that I am the one who makes people want to live..

and that some will even kill and die for me….

Yes..that is very true..said friendship…

that you have killed quite a few

but when you leave somebody so devastated

I’m the one who takes care of the ill-fated

and for every person that you tried to kill

I’m the one who put some life back into him..

I’m the one who shoulders…friendship then said…

when you should have been there…

And yet Im the one who is the most forgotten..

Coz now suddenly you decided to “be there”

You celebrate anniversaries…

Of the promise you decided to make on a day

But I’m the one who keeps my word

Without bothering of Work, Distances or whatever ahead may lay…

2 people can stay in love

only as long as they  get along

but if you really want to stay together

its the friendship that will take you long.

After a lot of contemplation (which it always does!)

love just had to agree

That for it to last a lifetime..

friendship there had to be!

Cheers to friendship! :)

20 years ago these same hands
On the very road that I currently stand
Guided me and immersed in talk
Slowly and steadily i learned to walk

These same hands then held me firmly
With complete trust I let myself be
Under his watchful gaze, yet I felt at par…
Running away…but never too far

He held my hand and led the way
Gently tugging when I strayed away
Wiping my tears, soothing the swell,
Picking me up every time I fell.

Today again I slide my hands
into his which have softened by time..
Nothing is said there isn’t any need
sometimes even words cant exceed….

And we walk like those good old days…
This time me leading the way
Hand in hand we take steps together
Surprised at the way life does alter

Along the way he stumbles a bit
“am I going a bit too fast?” I think
And I slow down with my grandpa in tow
Coz he did the same…20 years ago.

dedicated to a very special person ;)

Sometimes all you need is to let your hair down
Lock yourself in a room and all day frown

Snap at people, be angry all day
Criticize at whatever they have to say

Stop pretending that you are tough
Express what you feel, even if its ruff

Let the tears flow, feel them on your cheeks
Think about the questions, the answers to which you seek.

Because tomorrow again when you open the doors
You are gonna face problems from all fours…

And then that day, pull up your hair
Face this world and mend all that you care

Its not easy but definitely not impossible
And we all know that you truly are capable

Put this phase (like any other) behind you…
Coz we need you and are always there for you…

Wiping the tears off my face
“it is for us” you say….
As I come to drop you at the airport
In this sundry month of may….

We have prepared ourselves for this…
By taking pictures of all possible things
From smiles to tears and from hair to toenails
We have recorded voices, laughter and shared mails…

“Worried about the girls??” you try to cheer me up..
Knowing well that I would surely pick a fight
But today I choose to just stare..
at my bestest friend and his might…

“How exactly long is 1 yr?” you wonder aloud
a summer, a winter and a rain……
For me its just the distance my love
From being able to smile again….

Boyfriends are like handbags
Oh wait!!! Just in case you fall….
We love them just like our handbags
And so this comparison and all…..

We like to keep our boyfriends on our side
Clutching their arms tightly……
Just the way we would hold our bags
In the crowded streets of this city……

We prefer guys with strong arms
But they also have to be gentle….
Just the way we choose our bags
Soft in material and with a strong handle!!!

We are extremely possessive of our handbags
We rarely let anyone peep into it…
Just the way we keep our boyfriends
Hidden , Unknown, and Unseen…..

Our handbags hold many secrets
Which we do not share with all….
Just the way we tell them (guys) things
Sometimes on the call……

And when we go shopping
We wish the money keeps rolling
And I hope the guys get the hint….
Coz we wont keep telling

There are a few more analogies
But I wouldn’t want to give them all…
You see I have to keep my handbag safe…..
And answer somebody’s call…..

Dedicated to all the tomboy “gurls ” out there…
In every tomboy’s life a time comes……..
When others opinions start to matter.
When she finally understands the difference between an eye liner and mascara….
When her sports shoes spend more time in the shoe shelf…..

In every tomboy’s life a time comes……
When she’d rather be known as Abha Deshkar-“the one with pretty shoes” than “Abha Deshkar Tendulkar”….
When she dumps her t-shirts and shops for halter necks…
When traditional dress is something more than –kurti n jeans….

In every tomboy’s life a time comes……..
When she turns to “Bombay times” before the sports section….
When she asks for advice on lip gloss….
When “when u say nothing at all” comes before “it’s my life” on her playlist…..

In every tomboy’s life a time comes……..
When she wants to look beautiful and makes conscious efforts for it…..
When she buys those uncomfortable heels rather than the trustworthy floaters…
When she starts to flirt…with her finches :-)

In every tomboy’s life a time comes……..
When she starts taking interest in the kitchen….
When she misses her train coz her hair just won’t turn the way she wants them to…..
When she no longer mocks at girls who take hours to get ready…..

In every tomboy’s life a time comes……..
When she is no longer embarrassed of hugging her mom on the airport…..
When she feels that its “ok” to cry in front of others….
When the first word that comes to her mind on hearing marriage is not “YUCK!”

In every tomboy’s life a time comes…….

I wrote this poem for a friend’s movie (shodh-the search) …2 yrs ago…

With guilt in the heart
And water in the eyes
I look and i stare
At the dark ugly skies……

I dont know what i want
But i am searching for something
A feeling that’s in me,
But is still unknown to me……..

I have forgotten what joy means
Happiness is a feeling of the past
The present seems uncertain,
And the future dark…………….

This world fails to please me
I have never felt this way before
Nobody understands me out here,
I dont let anybody so near………….

Again i look at the sky,
And see myself as the cloud,
Shying away from the world,
But pouring my heart out……..

I am like a caged bird,
Crying out for help
The people out there look and laugh
Thinking i am enjoying myself…………

Not the heart, the teeth are smiling
Not the soul the face is shining.
But i still cannot complain can i,
For i am still trying……

We search for many things
To fill the void within
We collect our earthly wares
But find emptiness within…..

The heart sings a lonely song
A sense of losing all along
Like a white washed wall i want to start all over
This time round a bit slower……….

In this moist sand,

I stand.

The waves are crashing on the shore,

With a mighty roar

And I see two pairs,

Of footprints in the sand…

Yours & Mine…

The small and cute

Are no doubt, yours.

Like the white sand they are so fine!

The bigger and trollish are mine,

Of that I am sure!

Not long ago did we walk,

Long walks on the beach.

We held together our hands,

And for each other,

Did our hearts reach!

Our walks in the white sand

Are clear like the full moon night in my mind,

And I can still see,

Our footprints in the sand…

When we stared out at the sea,

Nothing was said

But so much was spoken!

Two lost souls sitting on a dune,

Together found everything to their tune!

When we sat lost in each other’s arms,

The magnificent moon showered on us,

All its charms.

You gave me the warmth,

To face the cold.

You gave me the strength,

To face this world!

All good things do come to an end

And one day you left me forever,

Disappearing round the bend.

I thought I could not live without you

Then why is it that I am alive still,

And find this to be untrue?

Why do I then excel in

Whatever I do?

It was then, the answer I found,

The ways of true love

Surely do astound!

You never ever left me

But inside me you are

And will always be alive

And will make me thrive!

With moist eyes,

In the moist sand,

I now stand.

The waves still crashing on the shore

With a mighty roar.

I see only one pair

Of footprints in the sand….
